DICHROIC GLASS
Dichroic
glass is made by applying multiple, micro-thin layers of different metals oxides to the surface of the glass. These oxides
include gold, silver, titanium, chromium, aluminum, zirconium, magnesium and silicon. They are evaporated onto the surface
of the glass in a vacuum chamber. It was originally developed by NASA for use in satellite mirrors. My jewelry is made by
placing layers of dichroic glass pieces over a base glass and firing them in a kiln to temperatures of approximately 1675
degrees.
